Also added a page detailing all the formulae required to design and characterize a radio receiver system. When entering certain combinations of RSL in mV and Frequency in MHz, the calculation yielded erroneous results. The problem was identified and corrected through clever manipulation of the javascript; in other words, I lucked out and stumbled over the solution. Your interim web guy was lucky!! A long discussion on the Stanford University VHF email reflector about the highest frequency at which coaxial cable could be uased (Fco, the "cutoff frequency") prompted an email exchange between your interim web guy and Tom WA1MBA about calculating Fco. The result is on the VHF South technical info page. VHF South is gonna get nation-wide visibility for THIS one!! STILL LOOKING FOR WEB SITE INPUT!!!

BTW, the email address is "protected" by a javascript which makes it probelmeatic for the web spider scavangers to detect. Also wrote and added a calculator-worksheet for figuring how much energy is turned to heat in a passive device placed in an RF path/system. Made some minor cosmetic changes to various pages for appearances/grammar sakes; betcha can't find 'em - HIHI! STILL LOOKING FOR WEB SITE INPUT!!!

Reorganized the "VHF/UHF Info" index categories, changed the title of the "SWR, Return Loss, Mismatch Loss, etc." page to indicate the antenna parameter context and added three entries under "Calculators". Edited the "Return Loss" page to clarify one or two of the finer points. Added a worksheet to add two power levels (mw, W, dBm, dBW or any combination thereof), a worksheet to determine gain or attenuation (in dB) of any change in power levels and a worksheet to quantify the effect of gain or attenuation (in dB) on any power level. STILL LOOKING FOR WEB SITE INPUT!!!

Uploaded a calculator with which one can evaluate one's antenna system. One may do the math and see quantitatively how line loss masks actual antenna status if measurements are made in the shack. Do a few examples and see that the mysterious "return loss" is nothing more than the difference (in dB) between forward and reflected power at the point of measurement. Contacted by KD5FZX concerning the BIG Motorola 900MHz PA and its conversion to amateur radio use. Secured permission from AC6DD, who had a rudimentary form of the information on his web site, to reformat the information and to put the web page up on the VHF South site. STILL LOOKING FOR INPUT!!!
