Directions to N5YA...
The annual Memorial-Day weekend VHF South BBQ is held at the QTH of Bill N5YA:
FROM THE SOUTH/WEST (I-10): Go to Beaumont on I-10 and take US96 North. You will pass through Buna,
Kirbyville, Jasper, and Pineland. Just North of the community of Bronson, exit right(East) on
Hwy 103 at the underpass.
FROM THE NORTH/WEST (I-20): Go East on I-20 to the Longview area. Take Exit 595A to the South....you
will find yourself on Hwy 149. Continue South on Hwy 149 to Carthage. Go around the loop and
exit South on US59. Near Teneha, US59 magically becomes US96. Go South on US96 through Center
and San Augustine. About 5 miles South of San Augustine, go under the overpass and turn left
onto Hwy 103 going East.
FROM THE NORTH/EAST (I-20): Go West from Shreveport, LA. Exit on US79 going South. Follow US79
to Carthage and go around the South loop to US59. Exit South on US59. Near Teneha, US59 magically
becomes US96. Go South on US96 through Center and San Augustine. About 5 miles South of San
Augustine, go under the overpass and turn left onto Hwy 103 going East.
FROM NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS: North of Temple on I-35 to Eddy and take Exit 315 to get on Hwy 7. Go East
on Hwy7 thru Marlin, Kosse, Marquez, Centerville, and Crockett. Continue East out of Crockett
on Hwy7. Near Lufkin, Hwy7 splits off to the North, but Hwy 103 continues East into Lufkin. Take
Hwy 103 to Lufkin. Take South Loop 287 around Lufkin, exit on Hwy 103 East, and continue East
until you intersect US96.
FROM SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS: North of Austin on I-35 to Round Rock and take Exit 252 to get on US Hwy 79.
Go North/East on US Hwy 79 to Marquez at Hwy 7. Go east on Hwy 7 through Centerville, and Crockett.
Continue East out of Crockett on Hwy7. Near Lufkin, Hwy7 splits off to the North, but Hwy 103 continues
East into Lufkin. Take Hwy 103 to Lufkin. Take South Loop 287 around Lufkin, exit on Hwy 103 East, and
continue East until you intersect US96.
COMMON TO ALL DIRECTIONS ABOVE:
From the Intersection of US96 and Hwy 103 (the underpass), go East on Hwy 103. In about 10 miles,
Hwy 103 merges with TX21 and from then on, you are on TX21. You will hit a 4 way stop at Milam.
Go north on TX87 for 8.2 miles. On the right side of the highway there is an entrance that says
"Lost Acres Ranch". The Toledo Bend Amateur Radio Club banner will be hanging on the fence.
FROM THE SOUTH/EAST (I-10): Go West on I-10 to Lafayette, LA and exit North on I-49. Go North to
Nachitoches, LA. Exit left (West) on LA6 and continue West through Robeline and Many. West of
Many, you will cross Lake Toledo Bend on Three Mile Bridge. The highway number becomes TX21.
Continue West to Milam. Go north on TX87 for 8.2 miles. On the right side of the highway there
is an entrance that says "Lost Acres Ranch". The Toledo Bend Amateur Radio Club banner will be
hanging on the fence.
